One to One Learning Support

We are looking for an outstanding and inspirational One to One Learning Support Assistant to join our school in West Wickham, Kent.

Wickham Court School has the individual at the heart of everything we do. With maximum classes of 16 in size, this allows us to provide a bespoke education that enables all children to achieve their potential. The staff are friendly and caring, good humoured, sharing best practice and nurture the children. Learning outside the classroom is encouraged through extracurricular clubs and trips.

About the Role

To work with the SENCO and Teachers as part of a professional team to support teaching and learning for SEN pupils. Providing learning support to pupils who need particular help to overcome barriers to learning, such as those with moderate, severe, profound and multiple learning difficulties and/or behavioural, social, communication, sensory or physical disabilities. The post holder could be working in class based activities, small group or 1:1 as the needs of the school dictates. The post holder will work within a team of Specialists and Teaching Assistants with the overall aim of supporting the school to promote the teaching and learning of all its pupils.

About You

  • A teaching assistant qualification or the equivalent gained through experience
  • GCSE in English and Maths
  • Experience of dealing with children within an educational context
  • An ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • An ability to devise and implement a range of strategies to support learning and enjoyment of learning
  • Knowledge of various special educational needs
  • Intermediate knowledge of ICT
  • A genuine enthusiasm for working with children
  • A positive attitude
  • An ability to strike a good professional rapport with children, staff and parents.
  • Being a positive role model.
  • To be flexible to the needs of the students

Contract Type: Full-Time, Term-time only

Salary: £14,000 - £16,000, commensurate on experience
